Chris Pratt says Star-Lord will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that Marvel Studios has already taken “hard action” to make it happen, speaking on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast.
Pratt said he has a good relationship with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and co-president Louis D’Esposito, and that conversations about delivering on the promise are ongoing. “You’ll see Star-Lord again,” he said, adding that he is not at liberty to say when. Marvel Studios declined to comment, according to TheWrap.
The promise comes from the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), whose credits tag read “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return.” The film left Peter Quill back on Earth, reconnecting with his grandfather, while Rocket took over leadership of a new Guardians team. Pratt has played the character in six films, from Guardians of the Galaxy through Thor: Love and Thunder.
Earlier this year Pratt told the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he had pitched Feige his own idea for Star-Lord’s return and that he has a strong vision for the character. He has not been announced for Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18, though directors Joe and Anthony Russo have teased that more surprises are coming. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
Pratt made the comments while promoting season two of The Terminal List, which premiered on Prime Video on October 21.
