Invincible Season 5 is coming to Prime Video in 2027. A post from PoppingCinema on X says series artist Ryan Ottley has confirmed the season will release in March 2027. Prime Video's own announcement has only given the 2027 window, according to ComingSoon, so the March date comes from that post alone.
What Prime Video Has Said Officially
The studio’s own wording has been cautious. ComicBookMovie reported on April 29 that the show’s official social accounts said Season 5 “should” land sometime in 2027 and confirmed that the cast had finished recording. Bleeding Cool summarizes the update the same way, adding that the exact release window remains under wraps and that a trailer should not be expected any time soon. TechRadar’s hub on the season says there is no official release date or trailer yet and suggests viewers should not expect footage before January or February 2027.
Because the March claim traces back to a single post on X, it is best read as unconfirmed until Prime Video or Skybound repeats it. Season 4 premiered on March 18, 2026, according to ARY News, so a March 2027 premiere would repeat the pattern of a one-year gap.
Where Production Stands
Voice recording for the season is complete, according to ComicBook.com. Creator Robert Kirkman told Collider in the spring that final animation was being returned and ADR was underway. He could not confirm a date at the time, but floated January, April or May and said the goal is to return within roughly the same timeframe each year. A March premiere would fall between those guesses.
The voice sessions, he has explained, happen far ahead of everything else. Kirkman said, as quoted by Inkl, that the voice recording is done first and that the team was working on Season 5 while still promoting Season 2. ComicBook.com adds that he considers the production to be pretty far along and in good shape. AceShowbiz notes that the fourth season’s finale arrived on April 22 and reads the production update as a sign that work on the new episodes is on track.
A Steady Annual Rhythm
The 2027 date fits a stated plan. SuperHeroHype notes that the creative team intends to launch a new season annually from Season 3 onward, following the long gap between Seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 arrived in 2025 and Season 4 followed in March 2026, per ComicBookMovie. TechRadar traces the fifth season to an announcement in July 2025 and says Kirkman indicated to ComicBook.com that it should be ready in early 2027, which could mean any point between January and April.
Gamereactor’s June 24 report carries the headline that Invincible will return for a sixth season, and the same coverage says Season 5 will introduce the character Gravitator, voiced by Jack Quaid. That casting has not been repeated in the other reports used here, so it should be treated as a single-source detail.
The Cast Coming Back, and the One Who Isn’t
Lee Pace returns as Thragg and Matthew Rhys returns as Dinosaurus, according to Bleeding Cool. Jeffrey Dean Morgan will not reprise Conquest, and ComingSoon reports the streamer says the character is truly dead and will not be back. Aaron Paul also stepped back from the role of Powerplex, according to Gamereactor, after debuting the antagonist in Season 3.
Gamereactor also notes that Danai Gurira joined the cast during Season 4, and Bleeding Cool describes the series as starring Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons. AceShowbiz reports that Prime Video confirmed through the show’s official X account that much of the cast will reprise their roles.
Where Season 4 Left Things
Season 4 ended with the Viltrumites assimilating into human society to repopulate their species. Thragg warned Mark Grayson to leave them alone or he would destroy the planet, and Mark reluctantly agreed. Allen also received a posthumous message from Thaedus telling him to use the perfected Scourge Virus to wipe out the Viltrumites, though the virus could be lethal to humans too.
TechRadar’s season hub notes that the story synopsis for Season 5 has not been revealed, though the final episode of Season 4 indicated where things will go, and it flags Allen’s decision about the virus as a central question. Bleeding Cool adds that Thragg is poised to watch over Earth after the events of the finale.
Original Episodes and Side Quests
Not every episode will come straight from the page. Gamereactor’s coverage includes a report that Kirkman has revealed the show will create more original episodes and “side quests” in future seasons, and an earlier headline from the same outlet refers to a storyline created for the show that does not appear in the comics. Those additions sit alongside the main adaptation of the comic, which Season 5 will keep following.
Where to Watch
Invincible comes from Skybound Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, and Season 4 is available exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, according to ComicBookMovie. Prime Video has not announced a premiere date or episode count for Season 5.
How Much Story Is Left
Season 5 will keep adapting Kirkman's original comics. ComicBook.com notes that Season 4 ended around issue #78, a little under halfway through the series, and that Kirkman has said the show will need about seven to nine seasons to finish the story.
Other reports give slightly different figures. Gamereactor says Kirkman previously had eight seasons of television in mind, and Inkl reports that he told The Direct there could be seven to nine seasons, although he hopes to go for 11 seasons or more. ARY News describes Season 5 as the midpoint of a much larger superhero saga.
