Robert Pattinson has confirmed that production on The Batman Part II is on pause. According to Just Jared, he told Official Pop Drop at the London premiere of his new film Primetime on Monday, October 12: “Yeah, we're pausing for a little bit, and then we're going to figure it all out.”
Warner Bros. and DC Studios announced the pause earlier this month. The Statesman reports that DC Studios told Deadline on October 5 that director Matt Reeves is stepping away for a family matter. The studio said it supports Reeves and hopes to resume soon. No details about the matter have been shared, and Reeves has not commented publicly.
There is no restart date and no estimate of how long the break will last. The film is still scheduled for February 18, 2028, and the Statesman reports that sources told Deadline it is too early to say whether the pause will affect that date. Reports that Reeves could leave the project have not been substantiated, and the studio's statement describes a temporary break rather than an exit.
According to Wikipedia's production summary, principal photography began on June 12, 2026, mainly on soundstages at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, with location work in Liverpool, Glasgow and London. Reeves released a first look at Pattinson in the Batsuit in July. The film's release date has moved several times, from October 2026 to October 2027 and then to February 2028.
Pattinson returns as Bruce Wayne alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell and Scarlett Johansson, with Sebastian Stan also in the cast.
