Most Anticipated Movies of 2027: Every Major Release to Watch

From Avengers: Secret Wars and The Hunt for Gollum to Narnia, Zelda and Spider-Verse, here is every major movie coming in 2027 and the dates to mark.

Hollywood’s 2027 calendar is crowded in a way few years have been. A Marvel finale, a returning Superman, a trip back to Middle-earth, Nintendo’s first live-action Zelda, the end of Miles Morales’ Spider-Verse trilogy and a Greta Gerwig fantasy all land within twelve months, alongside new entries from Shrek, Frozen, Sonic and The Simpsons. Even the order of release has become a story, with studios shifting weekends to avoid head-on collisions.

Release dates this far out are never permanent. Warner Bros., for one, has already moved The Batman Part II out of the year, and the production pause that followed, while director Matt Reeves deals with a family matter, leaves it dated for February 18, 2028. The list below covers the major 2027 releases as currently scheduled, in calendar order, so you can see how the year unfolds from January through the holidays.

The studio is positioning the film as a theatrical fantasy event, and if audiences respond, it could become a franchise.

Not in 2027

Several films once tied to this year are now elsewhere. The Batman Part II has moved to February 2028, and Marvel’s X-Men film, whose cast was announced this month, opens May 5, 2028. Dune: Part Three arrives December 18 of this year, and its early screenings have drawn very positive reactions. What to expect from the year

The 2027 slate leans on familiar names, but the variety within them is what stands out. Marvel is closing a multi-year story, DC is continuing Superman rather than rebooting him, and Nintendo and Legendary are extending the run of video game and monster franchises. Prestige-minded directors such as Greta Gerwig, Mike Flanagan and Michael B. Jordan are working inside established properties, and animation fills the summer with returns from Shrek, Spider-Verse, Bluey and the Turtles.

Not every date will hold. Studios routinely shuffle weekends, and several of the films above have already moved at least once. Check the Every Movie Plug news page for updates as trailers and new dates arrive.
